Awareness

Mindfulness is a method that involves focusing and concentrating attention. It is focusing on the present without judging. This is the conscious development of attention. Mindfulness practice includes openness, comprehension, curiosity and non-judgmental tendencies. The emphasis in mindfulness is on accepting what is seen or perceived as it is, without trying to change it. All momentary experiences, whether positive or negative, are accepted and released. Thus, the capacity for tolerance towards negative experiences such as anxiety, sadness, worry and anger also increases.

In mindfulness, instead of avoiding negative emotions or thoughts, there is exposure to and acceptance of those emotions and thoughts. Here, acceptance should not be seen as tolerating or submitting. Here, acceptance should be seen as the evaluation of the experience and the reduction of its suppression. This desensitization mechanism reduces negative emotions and supports mental health in a positive way.

MOMENT

Carpe Diem, a phrase used in a line by the famous poet of Latin literature, Horatius, means “seize the moment”. In fact, it is a warning to emphasize the value of the moment lived, instead of grieving for the past that does not exist now and worrying about the future that has not yet come and how it will come is unknown. “Seize the day”, which is also frequently used in Byron’s works in the early 19th century, advises not to lose sight of the pleasure in experience and the importance of the present.

Only lessons can be learned from yesterday (the past). And that lesson can only be realized in the present. The painful memories of the past are nothing more than a shackle on the feet. Forgiving past people and events is actually a key to our freedom. Since tomorrow (the future) is unknown, it is always variable even if plans are made. Since there is even a possibility that the future may be better than we think, being too rigid in planning can put us in narrow patterns. It is only in the present to realize the opportunities that come by setting goals and calmly watching events and people take shape.

Someone who lives in the past cannot find peace with the sadness of memories. Since he misses the moment, he always postpones the future. Someone who lives in the future cannot be peaceful because he will always be anxious. Someone who knows the value of the present time will be alert and not live automatically in virtual time travel. Since he will be aware of himself and life and will know that yesterday will be the mirror of tomorrow, he can turn his observations and ultimately his wishes into reality one by one.

Meditation

Nowadays, it has become a very popular phenomenon among Western people who want to get away from excessive stress and competitive life tempo. Although meditation, which is not a religion or belief system, has the main purpose of reaching the level of mystical consciousness, it also has great physical and mental benefits in our daily lives. In meditation, first the body, then the mind and finally the emotions are relaxed. Awareness is essential in each.

In passive meditation (Zen), which is done in a quiet place with eyes closed and sitting upright, nothing is actually done. In other words, it is a moment of inactivity. It is the state of being alone with one's own existence. It can also be summarized as conscious sleep. In active meditation, there is any action done with awareness.

Subconscious

The area of the mind called the subconscious mind is the strongest part of our emotional memory. It is the part of our brain that records and digests everything, and forms our personality based on our past experiences. Unfortunately, the subconscious mind can be filled with many mental sticky thoughts. Bad experiences, emotional hurts, disappointments, criticisms and other negative memories settle into the subconscious mind in the form of a fearful state that results in sabotaging the person. For example, someone who is starting a new relationship can sabotage the relationship with criticisms about unimportant issues in their subconscious mind. This can be done by the person to protect themselves from possible hurt.

Clearing the dirt (incorrect, limited belief patterns) in the subconscious mind stops self-sabotage and allows you to move forward in life. Affirmations reprogram the subconscious mind but do not clean it. When the subconscious mind is cleared as much as possible, it will be easier to place new positive thoughts.

The learned codes that are formed at a young age are waiting for a stage to come where changing is only possible with high awareness and regular work. The doors of awareness are opened with the question of “why” and objective observation. In addition, hypnotherapy and hypnosis applications offer very effective and radically solving opportunities. Change is not easy, but once you have a positive perspective, life will be a very enjoyable and joyful playground.
